GAY 101: A Journey Down the Yellow Brick Road

  • Glad Day 499 Church Street Toronto, ON, M4Y 2C6 Canada (map)

Every Thursday night!

Do you know who Sal Mineo was? Do you understand why ‘The 🐶 Episode’ was a landmark moment for the LGBTQ community? Do you know what Drag was like before the Race?

Join Heroine (AKA Matteo Cassano) for a trip down the yellow brick road as she teaches her clueless gal pal, Chansa Showers, everything gay in pop culture’s history.

We’ll have lessons on the art of camp, queer cult classics, landmark moments in television, song lyric decoding, diva worshipping, Hollywood’s Celluloid Closet, drag before RuPaul, and so much more!

We’re making use of Glad Day Bookshop’s new AV set up for an interactive experience you won’t find anywhere else!

At the end of each class, audience members will take the POP quiz for a chance to be an Honour Roll student and win our weekly grand prize.

Summer School Classes run Thursdays from August 2nd-30th! Fall semester begins September 20th!

Join us for a unique experience in Toronto and prepare to laugh, learn, and maybe shed a tear along the way! 💋 🍸
