To celebrate Filipinx Heritage Month and Pride, please join us, Makulay atbp., for our first OFFICIAL hangout!
What does being Filipinx AND LGBTQ+ mean to you? Meet and chat with us as we learn about our community, sing all your favourite karaoke hits (total eclipse of the heart!?), and dance with us (yes, you can totally dance ocho-ocho to total eclipse of the heart)!
We'll have some homemade sago't gulaman, melon juice, and mango nectar for FREE ❤
Please RSVP by emailing us at [email protected] to save your place at the mic! (or just hangout! No pressure to sing~) Spots are limited.
Playlist suggestions for karaoke are super welcome 🙂
P.S. Did we mention that the event is FREE? 😛
Hope to see you there!

MISSION AND VISION:
Building community, honouring our roots, informal support group aka FRIENDSHIP.
Where are our queer, trans, mga bakla kapwatids ? 🌈✨
*bakla definition taken from Trinidad Escobar’s Revolutionary Queer Liberation Flag: “Bakla” is an identity from the Philippines that doesn’t purely mean gay or trans. It is a concept that sits somewhere between gay, trans, and queer, somewhere between earth and the cosmos. It is identity and it is expression, the body and the spirit. Here, I’ve illustrated the symbols “ba” (representing the feminine) “la” (representing the masculine) and “ka”
*kapwa = fellowmxn
*kapatid = sibling
*kapwa + kapatid = kapwatids
WHO WE ARE: Created for and organized by LGBTQ+ Pilipinx/Filipinx folks.
WHY THE NAME?: We are makulay in life and so much more. We aren’t defined by one identity. We are multifaceted beings who are shaped by, and continue to shape our own selves through our intersecting multiple experiences.
