Yohomo NYE Party Guide 2018
2018 for us queer folks was a big, scary, successful, creative and cruel year. We hope that despite a lot of bad news that happened around the globe that you’re able to focus on some of the positivity and surround yourself with fam (chosen and otherwise), friends, pets or even just your favourite music and celebrate another year of living!
We’re super proud of our 2018, and you should be too! Celebrate small things, tell someone you love them and let’s keep pushing for better, for community and for more queer ferocity in 2019. Toronto needs us more than ever!
Whether you’re at a house party, in a warehouse, a club or on your couch, we wish you a happy new year from the bottom of our big gay hearts.
Here are the queer NYE parties (in alphabetical order) happening in Toronto this December 31, 2018.
West End | Backspace (88 Ossington Ave)
A new kid on the block, this party in a hidden-spot on Ossington goes until 4am and features the smooth musical stylings of DJs Maggy and Boy Pussy.
Village | Club120 (120 Church St.)
If you like to have a mix of dancing, sex and candy on NYE, Boner is a guaranteed good time. It’s a men-only party where literally anything goes. Boner parties are super sex-positive and this one is jungle themed! Jeremy Khamkeo and Josh Karmin DJ, daddy porn star Phillip Montana hosts.
West End | Round venue (152a Augusta Ave.)
Fit’s first-ever NYE party is gonna be a wild one. DJs Kris Steeves, Phillippe and their very special guest Vanessa (you might know her as the queen behind the legendary Electric Circus dance parties) are on decks. There’ll be a confetti cannon, no dress clothes, laid back vibes and affordable drinks. Also a dark room for folks who wanna get frisky and bubbles at midnight!
Village | Crews and Tango (508 Church St.)
Carlotta Carlisle and Priyanka Love host this drag extravaganza at Crews! It’s a whopping $20 cover, but the shows never end with performances from Devine Darlin, Ivory Towers, Lady G and Beardra Bidness. DJ Quinces and DJ Roxanne spin the heat over two floors.
Exhibition | 50 Prince Edward Island Cres.
If you need some magic on NYE, this party down by the Ex is probably a good bet. Mega décor, snacks, masquerade vibes and bubbles at midnight. This party with style also offers breakfast once the clock hits 3!
West End | Glastone hotel (1214 Queen St. W)
The queerest hotel in the city (Gladstone Hotel) is transformed into an over the top, tacky, glammed up Vegas -style fiesta complete with drag shows, DJs, a White Chapel wedding photo booth, and lots of food options.
Village | Glad Day (499 Church St)
Bring your pals and partner(s) to kiss 2018 goodbye and ring in 2019 with the Lavender crew. A party for lesbian, bisexual, pansexual, queer women, non-binary folks and trans people - everyone welcome!… and it’s only $9 at the door.
Village | Fly2.0 (6 Gloucester St.)
If you need to dance until 6am, this party at Fly is a great option on the big night. It’s a Neon party! So make sure you’re outfit doesn’t have any secret stains on it. DJ Geoff Kelleway and Cajjmere Wray spin, there are bubbles at the stroke of midnight and a big show from Sofonda Cox.
Village | Buddies in bad times (12 Alexander St.)
A big, boozy night of drag is NYE at Buddies! Katinka Kature hosts, Baby Bel Bel and Heaven Lee Hytes provide the shows, Regina Gently and Sofia Fly blast the beats. Expect huge pop hits, make-outs and heavy handed drinks.
East end | WAYLA (996 Queen St E.)
The East end’s only official gay bar opens both rooms, packs them with DJs, gives you bubbles at Midnight. Travis, Mia Love, Pia K host, they serve until 3am and all is well for your east-end rich daddy hunt.
Village | The Phoenix (410 Sherbourne St.)
If you like wildlife (we’re talking bears, otters, hungry hippos, silver foxes, etc), then get yourself to this late-night fur-fest at The Phoenix complete with 100’s of hairy people in harnesses, a mega show from Tynomi Banks and beats from Mark Falco and Joe Gauthreaux.
West End | Ufficio (1214 Dundas St. W)
Dinner and dancing is what this lady-focused NYE bash is all about. You have the option to do both, or just party. DJs Recklezz and Stix provide the soundtrack to this wild night of dancing and we highly recommend getting advance tickets because space inside the super cute Ufficio is limited.
