Pabllo Vittar is much more than a super famous Brazilian Drag Queen, singer and songwriter. She’s a presence, a force, and a total star. We were lucky enough to catch her during her show at Toronto Pride 2019 - along with thousands of gorgeous Brazilian and Portuguese mega-fans - and witnessed her power.

You might remember her from Major Lazor’s “Sua Cara” video, or he verse on Charlie XCX’s "I Got It" … but don’t worry, if this is your intro to the magic of Vittar then sit back and enjoy your new Queen.

Miss Moço: Can you take us back and tell us how Pabllo Vittar came to be?

Pabllo Vittar has always been inside of me. She was ready to come to life. I always had a strong relationship with the arts and singing, so when I turn into drag I am giving myself space to access this, and I feel 100% whole, 100% me. I am a free femme gay, owner of my choices.

How was your early experience living in Brazil and performing in drag?

It was a beautiful learning experience. But I also faced a lot of prejudice. It hurt me so much, so many people judging me, looking down on me, and too much intolerance. However, I never let it bring me down. I always resisted holding my head up high. I am what I am, and people need to accept it.

Porém, nunca deixei me abalar, sempre resisti de cabeça erguida. Sou o que sou, as pessoas precisam aceitar.

What does Pride mean to you?

It means a lot. Pride and resistance from our entire community.

Significa muito. Orgulho e resistência de toda nossa comunidade.

What advice do you have for young LGBTQ+ persons living in Brazil (and around the world)?

Do not ever give up on your dreams. Dreams are the most important things we can have in life. We are together in this fight. We cannot give up and accept any kind of prejudice.

What do you see for the future of the LGBTQ+ community?

At this very moment, I still feel unsure, and I notice only few effective changes to our community, unfortunately. But I can foresee a better future with more love.

You have been traveling all around the world – what are some highlights you’ve experienced?

Trying a bunch of local foods, and visiting so many tourist attractions in the cities. Also the love that I receive when people recognize me, this makes me so happy.
