What To Do At Montreal Pride 2019

What To Do At Montreal Pride 2019

Fierté, AKA Montreal Pride AKA Pride pt. 2 for so many Toronto queers is upon us! Celebrating under the sea of rainbow balls mid-August… there’s nothing really like it on earth. We’re heading to Fierté for the entire weekend and wanted to share the spots we have our eyes on and might be attending. If not, we’ll most likely be twirling in the park and on the streets of this fine French city.

Below are some of events we like, but just to be safe, some bars we love for you to stumble in any day during the festival.

Le Stud - 1812 St Catherine St E
Our fave place to dance in Montreal’s gay village. Sometimes super cheesy, sometimes leather-y, always crazy and cheap. Don’t forget to visit the second floor.

Le Renard - 1272 St Catherine St E
Cutie bar on the strip with cocktails, DJs and a packed house of gay boys.

Ti-Agrikol - 1840 Rue Amherst
A fun spot for QTPOC parties this weekend and in general and super diverse and accepting bar just off the main drag.

L’aigle Noir - 1315 St Catherine St E
MTL’s Black Eagle is a classic Eagle situation. Lots of white, hairy men of a certain age, but Fierté weekend you get a bit more variety and diversity. Worth stopping in for a drink.

Oasis, GI Joe - Both in the village
These are not bars. They are bathouses, and two of the most fun during Fierté. There’ll most likely be lineups, but they’re full of folks looking to get nasty. Be safe and get lost in there!

Stock, Campus and Taboo - All in the village
These are also not clubs for dancing, but rather, for stripping. Stock is for big, mostly straight buff guys. So hot though. Campus has a bit more of a sense of humour, the guys are still super hot, and Taboo is more locally flavoured haunt.

Thierry Mugler

Musée des beaux arts - 1380 Sherbrooke St W
If you need a break from the bustling streets and parks and parties, dip into the museum and catch the Thierry Mugler show. Get some inspiration for a looking later in the weekend, or micro-dose acid and just live your life.

Drag Superstars

Parc Des Faubourgs - Entrance in front of 1969 Ontario St E
We can’t even list the number of Rupaul’s Drag Race queens at this year’s massive drag show, there are so many, but don’t miss this massive pageant! There’s also a meet and greet option and a bunch of local talent to hold these ladies up. There’s also an after party at Club Unity!

(aka Madonna’s birthday)

Ausgang Plaza - 6524 St Hubert St
MikeQ, Nino Brown, Bamboo Herman, Cakes Da Killa, Phoenix Inana make up this beautiful queer lineup for this not-to-be-missed party! Hosted by Sally MuthaDust it’s described as From Africa to the Middle East, Asia and Central/ South America, all the way to Canada. “our monsters” have tried to eliminate and eradicate us but all they do is make us stronger! They created beasts and some of those beasts will be out on August 17th and they will whip up the night like a sand storm!'“

Drama Queen

PY1 Nights - 360 Rue de la Commune E
This party is a bit of a scene, but there is NO denying this DJ lineup. Julien Bergeron, our girl Sandy Duperval and Jojo Flores spin alongside a live VJ inside a super cool Pyramid (!!!) venue in Old Montreal. “A sweet and sour tumble down the rabbit hole. Gumdrops for grown ups. A giant candy store comes to life, a world of innocent adventure that gradually evolves into a kaleidoscope of sweet psychedelia,” is how organizers describe the night.

Get Bent X Pervers/cité : Bring the Heat

Olympia de Montreal - 1004 St Catherine St E
This is a kinky party in a fun, raw industrial space. Expect a sea of harnesses, sexy, hairy folks, a dark room and big, booming dancefloor. We went last year and had a good time.

District - PAPA Party

MTelus - 59 St Catherine St E
Only tickets at the door left for this party, but it’s a big sexy one with DJs from the US, Brazil and Spain. The Papa party always promises shows, ho’s, lots of eye candy and giant, happy beats.

Fierté Pride Parade

René-Lévesque boulevard and Metcalfe Street
2:30pm - not exactly sure what time it ends
Montreal’s Pride parade is super cute, not extremely long and worth a visit. There are loads of community groups, sometimes Trudeau shows up, and there are A LOT less barriers and security. Not as tourist heavy as Toronto’s parade, it’s a fun community moment that ends at Alexandre-DeSève Street, where you can just stroll into the village and be gay.

Midnight - 10am
A big ol’ after hours, all-night-until-the-sun-rises party in one of the best sounding clubs on planet earth. It’s Toronto’s infamous Revival party! Closing out Fierté with a bang. This is your spot if you want to keep the magic of the weekend going into Monday. The UK’s Pagano and Tom Stephan spin.

I Feel Love Festival Arena party

Studio Notre-Dame - 500 Rue Alphonse D Roy
