FLURRY OF FILTH presents CRY-BABY

From May 10th - 18th The historic Paradise Theatre presents FLURRY OF FILTH: A John Waters Retrospective- spanning 35 years of artistic output from the Pope of Trash himself. This week-long descent into celluloid atrocities is presented by Weird Alice of Drag Me to the Movies.

GOOD GIRLS WANT HIM BAD, BAD GIRLS WANT HIM WORSE. Why it’s none other than CRY-BABY (1990). CRY-BABY is John Waters’ musical send-up of the goody-two-shoes teen musicals like Grease but with his own Baltimore twist on it. It’s the Squares vs the Drapes in this rockabilly commentary on class politics. Allison (Amy Lochane) is a prim and proper schoolgirl that goes against her grandmother’s wishes when she dates juvenile delinquent Wade ‘Cry-Baby-’ Walker (Johnny Depp). They’re joined, as usual, by the rest of the Dreamlanders and with special additions including Traci Lords, Susan Tyrell, Willem Dafoe, Iggy Pop, and Patty Hearst! The tunes are catchy, the fashion is to die for, and the faces? There ain’t nothin’ the matter with these faces, they’ve got character!
