Join us on Tuesday, April 15, from 6 to 8 p.m. at The 519 of virtually via Zoom for a workshop: 'Policing Black Lives: Building Police Free Futures'. Delivered by Robyn Maynard, Assistant Professor at University of Toronto - Scarborough. Robyn writes extensively about borders, policing, abolition, and Black feminism

Together we will learn about surveillance, policing, and racism and alternatives to policing and the criminal legal system.

Robyn is an author and scholar based in Toronto, where she holds the position of Assistant Professor of Black Feminisms in Canada at the University of Toronto. Her writing on borders, policing, abolition and Black feminism is taught widely in universities across Canada, the United States and Europe.
Maynard is the author of national bestsellers “Policing Black Lives: State violence in Canada from slavery to the present” and “Rehearsals for Living” co-authored with Leanne Betasamosake Simpson.
